            Chapters

            • 00:00 - 00:30: Introduction and Apology The author begins by greeting the audience and confirms they still have their I4 vehicle for over two and a half years. They mention feeling it is time to provide an update along with an apology for not releasing a video recently. They explain their absence due to life changes, specifically mentioning starting a new company and how these changes have impacted their availability.
            • 00:30 - 01:00: Starting a New Company The chapter discusses the speaker's experience and emotions related to starting a new company. The speaker expresses excitement and satisfaction with their current car, despite witnessing the announcement of a new model they are unable to afford due to the recent launch of their company. They emphasize the challenges and enjoyment of running their own business over the past two and a half years.
            • 01:00 - 01:30: BMW I4 Features The chapter discusses features of the BMW i4, particularly emphasizing the air suspension system at the back. This system automatically adjusts and lowers the rear of the car when it arrives at familiar destinations, creating a 'squat' stance.
            • 01:30 - 02:00: Eco Pro Mode and Its Effects The chapter discusses the 'Eco Pro Mode' and its effects, where the narrator reflects on a previous experience involving a car blowout on the motorway. They recall discussing this incident in a video made a few months earlier. The narrator mentions driving the car in this mode during the first year of ownership, indicating a connection between this mode and the blowout incident. The chapter explores the idea that 'Eco Pro Mode' might have contributed to the incident, although the exact relationship is not yet clear.
            • 02:00 - 02:30: Comfort Mode Benefits The chapter discusses the benefits of driving in 'Comfort Mode' or 'Eco Pro' settings, highlighting the car's efficiency focus. It explains how these modes adjust the car's ride height for improved air flow and efficiency.
            • 02:30 - 03:00: Tire Inspection Advice The chapter on 'Tire Inspection Advice' discusses the potential issue of negative camber affecting tire wear. The transcript suggests that even if there's ample tire tread left, negative camber can cause uneven wear patterns that might not be visible to the naked eye. It advises taking the vehicle to a tire shop where professionals can use machines to lift the car and thoroughly inspect the tires for hidden wear, ensuring the tires are in good condition.
            • 03:00 - 03:30: Road Tax Update The chapter discusses road tax updates and highlights the importance of tire maintenance. It begins with an anecdote about experiencing a tire blowout after driving 20,000 miles on hand-cooked tires. Since then, the narrator has switched to plli pzer tires, which have been performing well over 15,000 miles. The chapter emphasizes the need to regularly check and maintain tire conditions to prevent premature wear from the inside.
            • 03:30 - 04:00: Squeaky Windows Issue The chapter titled 'Squeaky Windows Issue' discusses a theory related to automotive performance, specifically focusing on negative camber and its effects on a car. The narrator mentions running the car at a lower stance, which might be causing the negative camber to be constantly applied to the wheel. They invite feedback and opinions from the audience about their theory and admit their hypothesis might not be entirely accurate. Additionally, they share their recent experience driving the car in Comfort mode instead of Eco Pro mode, noticing different performance characteristics.
            • 04:00 - 05:00: Speed Limit Feature Issue The chapter discusses an issue related to the 'Speed Limit Feature' which affects the car's ride height and overall comfort. When the car operates in comfort mode, it rides higher, offering a smooth and spongy driving experience. However, switching to another mode referenced as 'ecpr' results in a more solid ride. The speaker is driven mainly in Comfort mode and is interested in examining the state of the tires under these conditions.
            • 05:00 - 06:00: Driving Experience on Motorway The chapter covers the narrator's hands-on learning experience with inspecting a vehicle's underneath on a motorway, focusing on identifying signs of wear or damage. • 06:00 - 07:00: Driveway Reversing Issue The chapter titled 'Driveway Reversing Issue' discusses tips for driving. The speaker suggests using Comfort mode while driving as it results in a higher ride, ensuring that the rubber touches the road flatter. This approach can potentially extend the life of the back tires.
            • 07:00 - 08:00: Car Aesthetics and Efficiency This chapter discusses upcoming changes in the UK regarding electric cars, specifically focusing on the introduction of road tax for electric vehicles starting next year. These rules typically impact newly registered cars, but this particular change will also affect existing cars like the author's, which was registered in 2022. From April 2025, the author will need to pay a road tax of £190, as opposed to previously receiving a notice indicating no road tax was due.

            Why I Only Drive In Comfort Mode #bmw #bmwi4 #drivemode #comfortmode Transcription

            • 00:00 - 00:30 hello everybody and welcome back and in case you want to know yes I still have my beautiful I4 um and it's coming up for two and a half years that I've had it now I think it's time for a little bit of an update and also for me to apologize for being so strange and haven't you know done a video in a while and that's because well life has been lifing and as a result of Life be life in um I've started a new company and um I'm just basically I've
            • 00:30 - 01:00 just basically been running on that if any of you who are watching my video are somebody who are running your own company you will know what I'm talking about anyway let's get into what I want to talk to you about today so first of all it's been absolutely amazing um running this car over the last two and a half years and my intention is to keep it because I am still very much enjoying this car I saw a new I4 being announced and I'm like no well I can't afford to anyway because I've just started company
            • 01:00 - 01:30 so I've made my piece with many things now there are some things that I just want to tell you about just so you are made aware one of the beautiful things of this car is that you have the air suspension at the back and every time you know you get to a destination especially if the car is familiar with the destination as soon as you reach your destination the back lowers um into this sort of squat type of stance now
            • 01:30 - 02:00 if you take it back a little bit you'll see the profile it's not that bad the profile the profile is pretty much all right um but you'd remember that I did a video about a few months ago where I talked about um having that blowout on the motorway I think I might be on to something so let me tell you about that blowout it might sounds like I'm all over the place but I'm coming to a point here now for the whole time every time I drive the car in the first year of owning it
            • 02:00 - 02:30 I would only drive in EC Pro what I didn't realize about Eco Pro is this as soon as you hit Eco Pro and in sport mode as well the car is favoring efficiency more than anything else so what will happen is that your car will have a lower ride height you know to maintain some sort of uh better flow of air underneath the car in particular now when it's riding lower your back wheels would have a bit of a
            • 02:30 - 03:00 negative cber let's see if we can see it so there's going to be a bit of a negative cber and as a result of that even though you check your your tire thread you might be thinking to yourself well I've got loads of like Tire thread left um but I would say get it into a tire shop let them put it on the Machine jacket up in the air and really check because you could be um you know eating
            • 03:00 - 03:30 that tire out from the inside and not realize it so what I've done so far this oh by the way I should mention when I had that blow out at the car had only had done about 20,000 M okay and I had the the hand cooked tires that it came with I have now since got these plli pzer and um by the looks of it they look pretty much all right so I've done 15,000 mil so far now what's the the trick that I've been using well I have realized like I said if you're driving
            • 03:30 - 04:00 an EC Pro I think the car is running at a lower stance and as a result of that that negative cber is always on the wheel if you know better and you can tell me I'll be happy to hear from you just drop it in the comments below and let me know if you think I'm chatting nonsense cuz I could be but like I said this is just a theory that I have so I've been running purely on Comfort mode now so I'm not running the Ecco Pro I'm just running on Comfort mode and what I've noticed is that in Comfort mode the
            • 04:00 - 04:30 car is riding at a slightly higher ride height because it's it's favoring comfort so you know you get that smooth ride on the road you got that nice squishy spongy type ride um when I go into ecpr it's a bit more solid and that's what that's what's fueling my thoughts on this matter so I've been driving mainly Comfort let's have a look see if we can get the camera underneath the car and have a look and see what the tires look like now I have haven't seen
            • 04:30 - 05:00 this yet so you know we're learning this together let's have a look so I'm going to have to go pretty low to have a look I don't even know what the lighting is underneath there so I'm going to come back out have a look now if you can see any wear on the inside any cutting then this is the place where I would see it and I will do a voice over if I spot anything but from my rudiment quick look there just now that
            • 05:00 - 05:30 looks all right to me okay so chances are I would say drive it in Comfort mode um because you're going to ride a little bit higher but it means that the way the rubber touches the road is going to be a bit flatter and you might just you know lengthen the the life of those back tires today is the day after our budget
            • 05:30 - 06:00 here in the UK where Rachel re's been on and she talked about all the stuff that's going to happen but I knew this from before I got a letter um that now says that from next year electric cars are going to be paying Road tax um all my research online says that it's going to be £90 that we're going to be paying um and then they have an expensive car an expensive car Road tax I would say look out for that one don't get caught with it so traditionally when the government
            • 06:00 - 06:30 bring brings in new rules around Road tax it usually affects all new cars that are being registered this particular one will affect cars that have been registered from before so my car was registered in 2022 this is going to affect me and my research tells me that it's going to be £190 from April 2025 so no longer will I have the nil letter coming in to say that I don't pay Road tax I will have to
            • 06:30 - 07:00 pay Road tax and you know what Fair dues I um one of the reasons why I bought an electric car was also well kind of to the planet I needed something a little bit um cheaper to run I have never paid 190 lbs to run a BMW I've always had five series from various amount 2 L all the way up to the 3 l and um it's always been 300 and something plus so having £190 as Road tax for me that's pretty good squeaky windows so
            • 07:00 - 07:30 many of you would have had this before if you obviously the the driver side door is the one that's being used the most so every time you come especially coming in the car or you just you know winding the window down as the window rubs against this rubber you get this squeaking noise let's get into the car and give you a chance to hear that from inside listen to this right
            • 07:30 - 08:00 do you hear that now what happens if I decide to wind down the window this is what I'm going to [Music] get you can't begin to understand how annoying that is like extremely it drives me to utter distraction I will sort that problem out but you'll you'll have to wait for to see how I do that
            • 08:00 - 08:30 one but I have I have already tried cleaning it with like some washing up liquid and some warm water and I had rest bite for about a day and then it was back to normal and even worse because now I've made it clean squeaky clean as it were okay I am trundling down the motorway and the car is doing 70 M hour well as fast as the people are in front of me so you can see them there in front
            • 08:30 - 09:00 of me going and you can see there's a nice little tick there that says 70 mph right that mean that's because I have told the car you choose the speed limit when the speed limit changes on the road now this is the 249 there is literally nothing in front of me to change the speed limit but look what will happen here in just a second you can see that it's telling me in 350 yards the speed limit is changing to 60
            • 09:00 - 09:30 the speed limit is not changing to 60 so the car has made this decision on its own by itself that this is the new speed limit and then I will get to the bottom of this little Hill here and then all of a sudden there's no sign up there that's going to tell me that is's a change in speed limit you're going to see in a minute so no sign up there tells me there's a change in speed limit look and it's now telling me in 250 or 200 yards and now it's going to change back to 70 no sign for
            • 09:30 - 10:00 70 okay nothing nothing at all it's just made that decision all on its own why am I telling you about that something else to be aware of if like me you know you don't want to be getting in problems with the law for speeding or anything like that then it would be a good idea to you know just keep an eye on that because sometimes the call will make that decision at last minute notice and then it will slam on the brakes
            • 10:00 - 10:30 quite you know viciously and if you got people behind you that can end up causing you a problem so it's always a good idea you know keep your eye on those things or probably turn that feature off now I like that feature on because it means that I never have to worry about speed limits you know I don't have to worry about that the car will always drive at well I say always most of the times drive at the correct um speed limit and uh if you have your
            • 10:30 - 11:00 cruise control on and I almost I use my cruise control most times except for when I'm driving round town and stuff like that but if I'm doing like Motorway driving and stuff like that I put the cruise control on because then it takes the pressure off driving and because I've opted for things like you know the assisted driving where the car can stare itself to keep in lane and you have the radar support to keep you a safe distance from cars in front of you um it just makes doing long haul trips dead
            • 11:00 - 11:30 easy absolutely love it another thing I want to tell you about is the communication between my front wheel and my back wheels so what do I mean by that well um sometimes when I'm coming off my drive now on my drive the ground is pretty much similar to what you're seeing here and you know you got a little bit of gravel and stuff like that but it's not as bad as it is here okay
            • 11:30 - 12:00 now if I'm reversing off the drive uh the car does something that's a little bit sort of weird you're coming off the drive and sometimes obviously because it's an electric car you get more torque than you would than than you would a petrol or diesel car so it's pulling its way off the drive and sometimes I will sort of dab the brakes a little bit because I'm like don't come out so fast I don't want to run over a kid who's going to come across my driveway or something and what it does is the back wheel keeps
            • 12:00 - 12:30 pulling and the front wheel starts kidding so what happens is somehow they're not talking to each other that is still very much engaged with power and this one is now locked because my foot is on the brakes and it would just pull it a few inches before the car realizes that actually you know slow down mate I don't want you to go so fast um so that's just something to be aware of it could be a little bit mad when it
            • 12:30 - 13:00 happens the first time or the first few times so just be aware of it you know but all in all what I want to cover in this video some of the great things I want to cover in this video um you know just doing a quick walk around the car she's still beautiful I still absolutely love the look of it um I've got some private plates done because I wanted to just you know just put my little St on it my ownership I have I think that the
            • 13:00 - 13:30 silhouette of this car is still amazing it still drives beautifully and I still get really good efficiency for a car that is 2 and 1/2 years old so you'll see first of all you know quite a lot of miles I've done and she's still running a good trip for me so now we're in Autumn you know 14 and 1 12° to today
            • 13:30 - 14:00 and um I charge normally to about 90% I'm down on 30 but now you know as you can see here about 3.7 mil kilo per kilowatt hour is what I'm getting which for this car for me for a car this old I think is pretty good so I'm still enjoying that in the summer months I'm still having a really good time getting right up at 300 over 300 um miles to a charge so I'm quite happy with it I'm looking
            • 14:00 - 14:30 after the car because like I said I want to keep it it's a beautiful car um even though I had my issues as you would have seen in some of my other videos with the seats and all that sort of stuff but in this video I just wanted to have a quick catch up with you guys again to let you know still got it she's still my baby she's still doing really really well um I really enjoy enjoy driving it yeah when I have another update I will let you guys know but for now I'm going to
            • 14:30 - 15:00 sign out and um I'm going to catch you guys on the next video thank you for watching take care I have in my hand an unknown substance that I will use to sve my window problem out um let's just say it's a substance that you can use um on the skin and leave it for long periods of time I won't tell you what it is I'm going to apply it now to the
            • 15:00 - 15:30 rubber just on that side there and then we're going to sit in the car and see how well that works let's give this a test not a sound woo it's brilliant let's take the window down oh yeah now that's nice yeah don't ask me what that substance is uh I can't tell you but that problem
            • 15:30 - 16:00 is gone let's see how long it's gone for
