There’s quite a bit to go through, so let’s catch you up to speed.

Destiny 2 was released in 2017 and since then it hasn’t stopped releasing quality content over the years. So, having that much content, it would be reasonable to assume that maybe you already feel overwhelmed by all the catching up to do you have to do. Don’t worry. In this article, I seek to make the onboarding process even easier. Of course. You might feel like even with all the time in the world, it might just not be enough to catch up with everything there is. Or maybe you find the game too difficult. In these cases, I recommend you try a Destiny 2 carry service, be it to get past a difficult Raid or just to help you get great gear. They got you covered!

    Starting up

Luckily for us, Destiny 2 is free to try on every platform. Trying it out won’t cost us anything more than time, and once you’re in, you can think about potentially spending some cash to unlock more content to explore. Right now, there are over 50 hours of free content to try, including the expansion campaigns “Shadowkeep” and “Beyond Light”. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. First things first. Once you start the game, you will be given the task of creating your character and choosing your class. This MMO doesn't have the traditional classes of tank, DPS, support, etc. but instead has 3 main classes that have subclasses that make them more useful for specific situations. These subclasses have different abilities that are unlocked by leveling up and have a unique super ability that makes them stand out from the rest even more The classes are:

      Hunter

This class is for people who are used to a lot of movement, as it has the ability to move around the battlefield and dodge attacks to compensate for its medium defense. It has 3 subclasses:

Arcstrider: Its super ability is to manifest an arc of pure energy that will destroy your enemies with its powerful attacks.

Gunslinger: Summon a flaming pistol that disintegrates enemies with Solar Light

Nightstalker: Anchor your enemies in an area and silence them to leave them vulnerable to attacks from your team.

        Titan

The closest thing to a tank in the game, they have the highest defense and very offensive powers. Recommended for people just starting out in the game because of the simple and straightforward gameplay style. Their subclasses are:

Sentinel: his ability is to summon a sentinel shield that absorbs damage while also allowing you to attack and even throw your shield.

Striker: Executes an area attack by charging his fists and hitting the ground.

Sunbreaker: Use a fire hammer to attack your enemies with this subclass’ devastating special ability

          Warlock

The class with the lowest defense, the warlock, relies heavily on using its powerful abilities wisely to stay on the battlefield. They have both support and defensive abilities. His subclasses and special abilities are:

Dawnblade: Convert solar energy into swords that you use to attack your enemies while flying.

Voidwalker: Launches a projectile of energy from the void that explodes, dealing damage to everyone in the affected area.

Stormcaller: Take to the skies and attack with powerful energy beams while moving at high speeds.

This list will give you a good idea of the differences between the classes you can choose from. Now let's talk a bit about what you can do once you have created your character.

            Free version

You've created your character and you're more than ready to see what this wonderful game has to offer. Destiny 2 has a free-to-play version that allows you to play the campaigns ‘Shadowkeep’, released in 2019, and ‘Beyond Light’, released in 2020. They also released a series of missions called ‘New Light’ which was created to introduce all the new systems of the game to new players. It is recommended to start here. The game also allows you to try out “Strikes”, a co-op mode where you and two other guardians enter a fortress to fight enemies with the goal of defeating the boss at the end. They also give access to a dungeon, Dungeons are high-level activities also designed for three players, with similar mechanics to a raid, but shorter and more accessible. They also feature multiple bosses, puzzles and unique rewards. Speaking of raids, the free version gives you access to the raids ‘Crystal Chamber’ and ‘The Fall of the King’. Both raids are quite old, but still have good rewards to be had. There are a few more things like worlds to explore and other activities you can participate in, but these are the main things that will catch your attention. But this is no small thing, in fact, it's several hours of gameplay you'll spend enjoying this game that will give you the idea of whether it's worth investing in.

              Expansions

Once you try everything and inevitably decide you want to play more, you'll find you have a lot to choose from. Whether it's the 5 campaigns where you can follow the huge scale story or take part in all the raids to get the best gear. There is a lot to grab hold of when one talks about the content that Destiny 2 has to offer. After the expansion “Beyond Light” you should try “The Witch Queen”, “Lightfall” and “The Final Shape” in that order!

                In conclusion

Destiny 2 being a huge game isn’t a myth, it’s a reality. It’s got a lot to dig into, but you’ll see that it’s not all that intimidating once you actually start playing the game. The game does a good job at marking what you should be focusing on next, what tasks give out the best loot and so on. If they didn’t feel confident that you will love the game they wouldn’t give you a trial that’s got so much content, so don’t worry. Jump in while the water is still warm!
