Stability AI is making waves by bringing its most advanced Stable Diffusion models to Amazon Bedrock. In an expanded partnership with AWS, enterprise users now have access to Stable Image Ultra, Stable Diffusion 3 Large, and Stable Image Core. These models promise unmatched visual fidelity and high-volume asset generation, catering to diverse industry needs.
Stability AI is expanding access to its Stable Diffusion models through a new partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) on Amazon Bedrock. This collaboration aims to provide enterprise users with more robust tools for generating text-to-image content. Stability AI had already made its older SDXL model available on Amazon Bedrock, but this new effort introduces three advanced models: Stable Image Ultra, Stable Diffusion 3 Large, and Stable Image Core.
Stability AI has faced challenges in gaining a foothold in the increasingly competitive market for text-to-image generative AI tools. However, its partnership with AWS represents a significant effort to broaden its market reach. The new models—Stable Image Ultra, Stable Diffusion 3 Large, and Stable Image Core—each cater to different use cases. From ultra-realistic imagery to high-volume asset generation, these models provide enterprise users with versatility and options tailored to specific needs.

Stable Image Ultra is touted as Stability AI’s flagship model, designed for industries requiring high visual fidelity such as marketing, advertising, and architecture. According to Scott Trowbridge, VP of business development at Stability AI, this model integrates advanced workflows with the power of the SD3 Large to deliver superior image quality. On the other hand, Stable Image Core is based on the SDXL model and aims to offer a faster and more affordable option.
Stable Diffusion 3.0 was initially revealed in a preview in February, with full availability arriving via an API in April. Stability AI’s new models add to the continuously growing suite of AI tools available through Amazon Bedrock, which already includes several image models like AWS's Titan. Stability AI also rolled out the Stable Diffusion Medium model in June, rebranding the original size as Stable Diffusion Large. Additionally, though without a formal announcement, the Stable Image Ultra model was made available via API around the same time.
Over the last year, Stability AI has been diversifying its go-to-market strategies. In December, the company launched a new membership model to drive commercial business and revenue growth. The company also offers the Stable Assistant chatbot, which provides users access to its models, charging them based on API or chatbot usage. This makes Stability AI’s models more accessible and provides more flexible pricing options for different types of users.
Despite its advancements, Stability AI has faced significant operational hurdles. The company's founder and CEO, Emad Mostaque, resigned in March, and he was replaced by Prem Akkaraju as the new CEO in June. Alongside the leadership change, the company received a fresh infusion of capital, signaling a new phase for Stability AI. Nonetheless, questions remain about the cost of running these models on Amazon Bedrock compared to other methods, an issue the company has not yet clarified.

For enterprise users, the expanded availability of Stability AI's models on Amazon Bedrock means more options and potentially better customization for their specific needs. While it's not yet clear how the costs will compare to other platforms, the increased accessibility is likely to drive higher adoption rates. This move is also expected to enhance Stability AI's overall revenue prospects, given the additional paths to market and usage.
The partnership with AWS is likely just the beginning. Stability AI intends to explore further collaborations with other cloud service providers, system integrators, and model service providers to broaden the reach of its generative AI models. As the market for text-to-image AI tools continues to grow, having multiple avenues for deployment could be crucial for Stability AI’s sustained success.
