            • 00:00 - 00:30 [Music]
            • 00:30 - 01:00 I [Music]
            • 01:00 - 01:30 hi everyone welcome back to my channel and welcome to this year's classroom tour for video for the 2022 to 23 school
            • 01:30 - 02:00 year I am a grade 6 teacher in Alberta Canada I make lots of teaching and learning videos here on YouTube and I would love to have you consider subscribing and following along all right so when you first come into my classroom the lockers are along here but we're not going to show those cuz they do have student names on them but I have half my lockers inside the room and then the other half of the lockers are outside the classroom and when you first come in it's not a huge space I have 25 students
            • 02:00 - 02:30 this year but the desks are in groups right now but if you come this way we start off by having our art bulletin board where we display all of our artwork and things that the kids create throughout the year I always like having a space in my classroom where student work can be displayed then I'm so excited this year because I did find room in here to have a small group working table that was extremely important to me because it's something that I haven't had for several years years I need a space to be able to sit
            • 02:30 - 03:00 with students and work with them instead of invading on their space or working at my desk where they feel like they're invading in my space it's nice to have this separate area where we can work um it's also really great because I have a student aid in my room so she can use this space as well and I did put it right with the Whiteboard so that way if we need to teach anything we have this small kind of teaching space that we can use um I just hung some cute tassel garlands that I ended up making this year this Bulletin board is going to end
            • 03:00 - 03:30 up being where we will put our sound wall and our work for literacy this year so it's something that we're going to co- construct as the year goes on so I start with it being blank I don't love this right now I don't know if it'll stay or not but I needed a space to put du tangs and scribblers the kids put most of their working binders this year but it is nice to have a separate space for those other kind of random things because their desks are not big enough for everything uh one of my M tabs in a classroom is always a map I love to see
            • 03:30 - 04:00 when the kids gather around the map and explore so I got this giant world map I like that the colors are a bit more muted it's just nice for the space so we have that over here in this corner is where I keep my Chromebook cart so the kids Chromebooks go in here behind our stacks of chairs is our prayer table um but normally obviously these chairs are at the desks so then the prayer table is there for us to use during our religion classes so then over here is one of our
            • 04:00 - 04:30 bookshelves this is where we keep all of our novels I always color code them because I just like I think that is an easy organization system for the kids they can easily go put the book away with the colors that match it so I don't do alphabetical order or by author or anything like that but that's where most of our books go with the exception of this shelf here this is a spinning shelf and this is where we put favorite authors or series um so all the books
            • 04:30 - 05:00 that are I have like a full series of or some of my students favorite authors we stick over here so they're easy to grab and then this behind me is our picture book shelf so this is where we keep picture books um and it also is good for me to grab whenever I run to the grade one class to teach grade one Health I shared this in a recent video this is our collaborative Canadian flag it was a free download on teachers paid teachers and I use it every single year um my students each get a Square they color it
            • 05:00 - 05:30 in and then we put it together hang it up for the year and it's something we co-created up here this is another one of my classroom must have I find at this grade level it's really difficult for them to have enough space to put their things so whenever I bought these on Amazon I think it was five or six years ago and they're awful to put together like horrible to put together so I have trouble recommending them except for once they're together they work perfectly all of the kids get their own
            • 05:30 - 06:00 bin and this is where their extra supplies go so we just call them their white bins it's where their extra supplies um is kept and they can grab it in as they need it like they're not restricted or anything but um it allows them to keep kind of must haves in their desk and then extra supplies up here above me is where I keep my classroom agreements I teach at a tribes school so we use the tribes agreements but they essentially are classroom rules I like to have those displayed at the front of the room where every everyone can see
            • 06:00 - 06:30 them all year long this is where I keep my anchor charts so I just have Command hooks with a curtain rod and some binder rings and I keep all of my anchor charts here um and that way I can flip them and put up what we need right now we're studying place value so that's what we have displayed and over here obviously my Smartboard but this is a cozy little area that I created this year based off of something my students asked for last year they made me agree that if I I was
            • 06:30 - 07:00 the grade six teacher this year I would have a carpet in my room so I got this carpet off of Amazon if you saw my classroom setup series I actually bought a smaller one at first and then I didn't like the way it fit the space so I upgraded to this larger one and it is perfect I also have these two chairs which are just comfy chairs we call them our front row seats and kids love to come here to read and over time it's going to be it's going to function as like a reward or something they can purchase using our classroom economy so
            • 07:00 - 07:30 same thing over here I have more of those shelves and bins for the kids and my whiteboard a lot of organization is happening on this whiteboard so of course I have my sweet puppy Summit who watches over the class all day um this is normally where I display who our grade 2 reading buddies are throughout the week and I always put my date up um this is just something I made myself and I just use stick on magnets from the dollar store so I can easily change that
            • 07:30 - 08:00 throughout the day this is where we hook our class calendar with all the events that are happening each month and then a spot for us to put our words of the week that we're working on above me is my place value chart it's another thing that I find applicable to pretty much the whole school year so I try to put stuff up at the beginning of the year that I know is going to stay there for the whole year and place a place value chart is one of those things that I just believe is important to have up the kids don't have their own at their desk so
            • 08:00 - 08:30 this is a reference they use quite often over here another thing that I just created myself using canva is our classroom schedule I wanted to create my own because it's just one of those things you can't find the perfect schedule that has every card that you personally use in your classroom so I just made my own and it has worked perfectly so far there was a lot going on today obviously and then over here another new thing that I am using in my classroom this year but this is a sticker chart again just Command hooks
            • 08:30 - 09:00 up on the wall I bought all the stickers off of Amazon and I put them up and they're just kind of a reward I use in the classroom every now and then um I use them to motivate kids or bribe kids or to reward them for doing something helpful um or even just like doing a math problem on the board that kind of thing um and there's a variety of stickers this is my sixth balloon that is still going strong since the first day of school this is my own standing laptop desk I used used this a lot in my
            • 09:00 - 09:30 previous classroom because all of my Smartboard hookups were right here this year I have Apple TV in my classroom so I just kind of wheel around as I'm teaching but it's nice to be able to move this where I need to because my desk is at the side of the classroom it's nice to have a desk that I can bring anywhere I need in this corner I keep some of the cleaning supplies kind of hidden we have a box of board games and then this is another I would say it's like a genius idea but this is my lost and found so I labeled these
            • 09:30 - 10:00 Sterilite drawers with different things that we find around our classroom and that way the floor cleanup crew in my classroom can pick up anything they find on the floor and stick it in here if you are looking for that item in the next couple days you can come here and see if it got dropped off we also have a paper towel and napkins I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this bulletin board yet again I only really like to put things up at the at the beginning of the year that I know I'm going to use all year I don't know what I want here yet
            • 10:00 - 10:30 um but it's a blank board for us to use for whatever purpose we need I have another garland that I made with some different ribbons that I got at Michaels just to add a little touch this is where I keep any like extra charts or things that go up on the wall it's just a like tall garbage can um but I keep everything rolled up in there and it's nice and compact doesn't take up a lot of space I just have a hook here with the Whiteboard markers the kids are allowed to use because I asked that they don't use my Expo markers because I was
            • 10:30 - 11:00 running into so many problems where every time I tried to use a marker it was always dried up so these are the kids mine are up front our vacuum because carpet cleaner is one of our classroom jobs now that we have a carpet and then over here is my space so I always keep my space over here because that way I have all the cupboards all the cabinets everything I need for storage my desk is pretty clean today it doesn't always look like this by any means the drawers I have here are where I put work and copies that I've made and
            • 11:00 - 11:30 I just labeled them with our main subjects that I actually make copies for and usually I'm able to stay organized with papers and things because of those drawers I keep most of my stuff in the drawers in my desk and then lots of extra stuff supplies paper scribblers in these cabinets cleaners and things over there and then all my teaching resources binders where I keep things that I want to use in the future like right now I am
            • 11:30 - 12:00 tracking everything that I'm teaching in science and that way because it's my first time teaching this way next year I'll be able to look back and see what I did so trying to help my future self a little bit and up above above the lockers and above this bace I have bins with different things um because there's not a lot of storage it's it's half decent but we don't have a lot of storage in the classroom so that is wonderful I measured and bought bins that would fit then over here is where
            • 12:00 - 12:30 my locker is so this is my cabinet where I'm able to keep my backpack coats all the things I need um this is where we keep Kleenex boxes because we go through Kleenex boxes like crazy and then all of my class jobs are up here so on the other side of these papers are the kids names and that way they know usually they're turned around obviously and that way they know which job um they are working for their twoe period if they happen to forget all right so that is absolutely it for my classroom tour for this school
            • 12:30 - 13:00 year let me know what your favorite part of my classroom is if you feel like you have something in your classroom that I don't have that I absolutely need I love watching these kinds of videos so I am enjoying creating it for you as well and I look forward to your feedback and comments if you did enjoy today's video please be sure to give it a thumbs up because it really supports me and my channel here on YouTube if you are not yet subscribed I post videos every single Sunday I would love to have you follow along for my journey this school
