Two new roles alongside an existing incident operator

Droma announced general availability of its Problem Manager and Site Reliability Engineering agents on October 28. They join its previously launched L1/L2 Operator Agent. The release describes three related kinds of work: responding to an incident, understanding a recurring problem and planning changes to reliability.

The company is also using a new name. Droma was formerly Grokstream, and says customers retain the same team, platform and support after the rebrand. The October 28 release therefore adds two roles to an existing platform; it is not the first launch of the L1/L2 incident operator.

The useful question for an operations team is what each role produces and where responsibility passes next. A restored service, a problem record and a proposed reliability change are different outputs. Describing a loop between them does not establish that an AI system has prevented the next failure.

Problem Manager turns a recurring pattern into a handoff

The Problem Manager description focuses on patterns across related incidents, historical changes and past resolutions. Its proposed unit of work is a recurring problem, rather than an isolated alert.

Droma describes five stages: problem overview, root cause analysis, impact assessment, workaround, and assignment and ownership. The agent is meant to weigh possible causes against evidence, distinguish a workaround from a permanent fix and identify the team responsible for the next step. Those elements are packaged as a handoff for a problem record.

That makes the distinction from the incident operator concrete. Restoring a service can address the immediate disruption while leaving the recurring pattern unresolved. A problem handoff organizes the explanation, impact and ownership needed for subsequent work. A proposed cause or assigned owner still needs to be assessed in the organization’s own context; the announcement does not independently validate the agent’s analysis.

SRE work looks toward architecture, capacity and dependencies

Droma describes the SRE Agent as evaluating architecture, capacity and dependencies, modelling trends against service level objectives, or SLOs, and error budgets, and ranking resilience work by potential blast radius. This is the planning side of the proposed workflow: identifying conditions that may contribute to future failures and deciding where engineering attention should go.

A recurring problem can supply evidence for that planning, but the roles are not interchangeable. The Problem Manager’s handoff concerns a pattern, its possible cause and an owner. The SRE description looks across the design and operating conditions of services. Neither a forecast nor a ranked recommendation is proof that a change has been implemented or that a future incident will be avoided.

Claims in the release about preventing failures, faster resolution or staffing benefits are the provider’s account of what it aims to achieve. This reporting does not establish those outcomes.

Delegation depends on the role and action, not just the agent name

CEO Casey Kindiger says organizations decide how much to delegate by role, action and risk, progressing from AI assistance to human‑approved actions and then autonomous operations as confidence grows. That is a description of a delegation model, rather than evidence that the same action rights apply to every deployment.

The distinction is practical: receiving an explanation, approving a proposed action and permitting execution without that approval are separate decisions. A team evaluating the new roles needs to establish which of those it is enabling and who owns the resulting handoff. The release does not provide a detailed permission matrix, contractual control specification or price.

Droma calls the two new agents generally available and directs prospective customers to request a demonstration. This is an availability announcement, not a report of an independently tested deployment, a guarantee of safe autonomous changes or evidence that incident recurrence has been eliminated.
