Runway Dev plugins give coding agents account-aware API guidance

By OpenTools Team

Project access and platform instructions travel together into the editor.

Read the project before building

Runway’s November 2 announcement adds plugins for Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. The agent first reads available projects, eligible models, their prices and limits, and remaining credits. Actual project access therefore informs the build; it does not imply access to every model or unlimited generation.

Platform knowledge accompanies access

Runway Dev MCP access comes with SDK‑focused skills. These cover Model Router and Character creation, Recipes, and team‑published Workflow API endpoints. Task errors and routing explanations supply platform‑specific debugging context. The plugin brings both access and instructions into the editor, rather than access alone.

Sign‑in remains necessary

Runway describes first‑use account sign‑in and says no API key is stored in the plugin. That is a vendor statement, not an independent security audit. The announcement does not make generations free or bypass account limits.
