Zendesk Auto assist permits up to seven pre-approved action executions per suggestion

By OpenTools Team

Zendesk’s notes for the week through October 23, updated October 26, cover repeated pre‑approved actions, attachment names and extensions, and changes to knowledge retrieval.

The execution limit applies within one suggestion

Zendesk’s release notes for the week through October 23, updated on October 26, say Auto assist can execute pre‑approved actions up to seven times in a single suggestion. A procedure might use those executions to check multiple parameters. If it needs eight or more, an error appears and the agent can retry, according to the notes.

The scope matters: the change concerns actions that have already been pre‑approved, within a suggestion. It does not announce unrestricted permission for Auto assist to perform new actions. The retry reference also should not be read as a promise that an eighth execution automatically succeeds or that the system prevents repeated external side effects.

Attachment identification has a specific stated scope

The same notes say Auto assist can detect attachments on each ticket comment and, on messaging channels, on the ticket itself. It can identify attachment names and file extensions.

That gives support teams a more precise way to understand the context described by this release. An attachment being detected or named does not establish that Auto assist has read a document, interpreted an image or understood a recording. The notes make the narrower identification claim; they do not provide a general attachment‑content capability or an accuracy assessment.

Subject and knowledge‑source handling also change

Zendesk reports three related fixes. Auto assist now uses the ticket subject when searching for relevant knowledge to include in suggestions. A Google Drive connector issue that could cause internal help‑center articles to be ignored is described as fixed. The notes also say an unnecessary order lookup for certain actions has been removed.

For teams reviewing their procedures, these are changes to the information and action path behind a suggestion: which ticket context is searched, whether relevant internal articles are considered when Google Drive is connected, and whether a procedure triggers an extra lookup. They are issuer‑reported product fixes, rather than independent evidence that every suggestion is correct. The notes do not specify a new subscription entitlement or universal account rollout time for these Auto assist changes.
