Choose the free plan around the file you need

A free editor is useful only if you can download the version your employer accepts. For repeated applications, Teal has the broadest documented free workflow here: unlimited resumes, downloads and job tracking, with PDF and Word export advertised. Rezi is more restrictive: one resume and three PDF downloads; editable Word and Google Drive exports require a paid plan. Kickresume lists unlimited free downloads and supports PDF/DOCX overall, but its free pricing card does not separate the formats. Check the export option before investing time in a premium template.

Kickresume: templates and matching cover letters

Kickresume suits applicants who want a coordinated resume and cover letter. Free includes four templates for each, a basic personal website template, pre-written phrases and resume examples. You can edit saved resumes, duplicate them for another role and download PDF or DOCX files. Premium adds more templates, customization and AI tools. It is listed at $24 monthly, $54 billed every three months, or $96 billed every twelve months. The $8/month yearly equivalent means a $96 annual charge, not an $8 monthly charge. Subscriptions renew unless canceled before the term ends. Eligible students and teachers can receive Premium for up to 180 days through ISIC, ITIC or UNiDAYS verification.

Rezi: targeted feedback with a small free allowance

Rezi combines writing and editing tools with Rezi Score and job-description Keyword Targeting. Its AI Resume Agent can compare a resume with a job posting and suggest changes alongside the document. Free includes one resume, one AI interview and three PDF downloads, with limited targeting and analysis. The agent guide also lists one AI prompt for free users; this is not an unlimited writing allowance. Pro is $29/month with unlimited resumes and PDF, DOCX and Google Drive exports, plus one expert resume review each month. Lifetime is a $149 one-time payment for permanent Pro features, excluding that monthly expert review. Choose the paid plan only if its feedback or export options solve a need your free workflow does not.

Teal: multiple resume versions and job tracking

Teal is a practical starting point for managing several applications. Its core builder is free without a credit card. Import a PDF, Word document, pasted text or LinkedIn content, edit sections and layout, and attach a job description for matching. Free includes unlimited resumes and job tracking, ten templates, the top five matched keywords and basic analysis. Its listed AI allowance is ten resume-bullet credits, two professional-summary credits and two cover-letter credits; the pricing page does not specify a reset schedule. Teal advertises unlimited PDF and Word downloads. Teal+ adds broader matching, analysis, design controls and unlimited listed AI credits at $13 every seven days, $29 every thirty days or $79 every ninety days. Paid subscriptions renew unless canceled before renewal.

Tailor the resume without inventing experience

Start with the job posting and your real work history. If a role asks for SQL reporting and you actually built a weekly sales report, make that experience explicit. Do not add SQL, a qualification or a percentage improvement simply because the AI suggests it. Replace generic claims with a real task, your contribution and an outcome you can explain in an interview. After editing, reopen the exported file and check contact details, dates, headings, page breaks and selectable text. Follow the employer’s requested file format; a high tool score cannot override that requirement.

Compare the total charge before upgrading

Match the subscription to the length of your job search. Four seven-day Teal+ periods cost $52, while its thirty-day option is listed at $29; the periods are slightly different, so check your actual renewal dates. Kickresume’s annual price is paid for a full year. Rezi’s Lifetime option removes a recurring plan choice but does not include Pro’s monthly expert review. Rezi advertises refund requests within thirty days of purchase; Teal cancellation does not automatically refund earlier charges. Confirm currency, taxes, renewal and refund terms at checkout. Prices and features were checked against official pages on September 10, 2026. This is a comparison of documented capabilities, not a test of output quality or hiring results.

Common questions

Which AI resume builder lets me download for free?

Teal advertises unlimited free resume downloads in PDF or Word. Kickresume lists unlimited downloads with four free resume templates, but check the format available on your selected template. Rezi Free allows three PDF downloads; DOCX and Google Drive require a paid plan.

Can I get an editable Word resume for free?

Teal advertises Word export as part of its free resume workflow. Rezi reserves DOCX for paid plans. Kickresume supports DOCX overall, but its free plan page does not specify format-level availability.

Which builder is useful for students?

Start with Teal’s free application workflow or check Kickresume’s offer of Premium for up to 180 days after student or teacher verification. Rezi Free may cover a small PDF-only application task, but its three-download allowance can run out when revising.

How often does Teal+ charge?

Teal lists $13 every seven days, $29 every thirty days or $79 every ninety days. These are recurring subscriptions until canceled, not one-time fees.

Does an AI resume builder guarantee an ATS pass or an interview?

No. Keyword matching and resume scores can help you review content, but they do not guarantee screening, interview or hiring outcomes. Check that all suggested skills and achievements are true before applying.
