Image-to-Image AI Tools: Recraft, Flux1 AI and Vheer Compared

Start by writing down what must stay and what may change. For a product photo, the label, shape and number of objects may be fixed while the background changes. For an illustration, you might preserve the palette and composition while exploring a different treatment. A reference guides generation; it does not guarantee that every detail survives.

Use a mask or a local editing tool for a small correction when the product supports it. Use a broader reference transformation when you want a new composition. If you only need a written description of the picture, use an image-to-prompt tool. If you want movement, use the separate image-to-video comparison. Keeping these jobs separate makes costs and output requirements easier to compare.

Recraft offers two documented entry points: select an image on the canvas and choose Edit image, or attach a reference in Create. Reference support depends on the selected external model, which requires a paid plan. Several models accept multiple references, but their limits differ. The model picker is more useful than a blanket promise that every model can edit any image.

Flux1 AI has a dedicated Image to Image screen with a reference upload or image URL, a prompt, reference-strength control, aspect-ratio choices and an optional seed. Its upload field accepts PNG, JPG, JPEG and WebP up to 4.5 MB. Inspect the strength setting and change one variable at a time when comparing variations.

Vheer separates Image to Image from its multi-reference, background and other editing tools. Pick the route that matches your input rather than assuming all utilities share the same controls. These observations describe the public interface and documentation; we have not generated comparison images or tested subject preservation.

Recraft’s live Free card lists three generations per style per day, three daily uploads and up to two images per generation, with basic editing and Recraft models only. Its photo-editor marketing page separately advertises up to 30 generations and edits daily. Use the specific plan and model limits when deciding whether your reference workflow fits. Basic is $12 monthly or $120 billed annually for 1,000 monthly credits; API units are separate purchases.

Flux1’s dedicated route displays a six-credit Run button. Its FAQ explicitly offers ten trial credits to new users after login, resolving whether the trial applies to this route. Check the displayed charge again before generation; the offer does not establish a repeating monthly grant.

Vheer’s Free card lists 50 credits per month, while its homepage uses unlimited-generation language. That mismatch makes the selected route and current charge important. A credit balance alone is not a count of finished edits: model choice, failed attempts and iterations affect the usable result.

Recraft Free images are public, Recraft-owned and restricted to non-commercial use. Its paid-plan documentation states private generations and ownership and commercial rights for images created while subscribed. Private gallery visibility is separate from training: the current Terms permit training by default and offer an account-profile opt-out. Check that preference before submitting confidential work.

Flux1’s paid pricing cards list commercial licensing and private generation. The trial-credit offer does not establish those entitlements for free outputs. Flux1.ai is an independent service, not Black Forest Labs; the FLUX provider guide explains the distinction.

Vheer’s Terms specifically permit personal and commercial use of Image-to-Image outputs regardless of subscription. Its text-to-image and Kontext rules differ, so keep the tool name with the decision. Vheer also states that customer content is not used for training and files are deleted every six hours. Keep a local copy and use references you have permission to process.

Choose one authorized reference with enough detail to expose mistakes. Write a prompt such as: “Keep the bottle shape, cap and label wording. Replace the background with a plain light-gray studio scene.” This is an example of a controlled request, not a promise that a model will comply perfectly.

Compare the result with the original at the intended display size. Inspect logos, text, object counts, edges, reflections and any face or product feature that must remain accurate. If the change is too broad, revise one instruction or control and compare again. Avoid judging several changed settings at once.

Download a sample before committing to a longer workflow. Check its dimensions, file format, transparency and editing needs. A preview can conceal artifacts, and an SVG extension alone does not establish clean vector paths. For print work, inspect the actual artwork and production requirements rather than relying on a generator’s general export list.

Recraft suits a project that benefits from an editable canvas, repeated reference changes and raster or vector preparation. Flux1 suits a focused reference transformation where an explicit strength control and visible per-run credit charge help you compare iterations. Vheer suits a quick browser workflow when its specific tool controls and output terms fit the job.

Keep the original, prompt, selected model, plan, date and final export together. That small record helps when a colleague needs to revise the image or a client asks which source and permissions apply. Choose the tool that gets you to a reviewed, usable file with acceptable effort and cost, rather than the one with the most generous headline allowance.
