Alexa+ Japan begins rolling invitations, with later pricing and partners still to come

Japan’s rollout begins with Early Access invitations

Alexa+ starts rolling out in Japan on October 29 through an Early Access program, according to Amazon’s updated announcement. Customers can request Early Access on Amazon Japan, but invitations will arrive on a rolling basis. The regional launch therefore does not mean every household can activate the service immediately.

Amazon describes two entry routes: purchasing a new eligible Echo device—or an eligible Fire TV in Japan—or registering online for an invitation if a customer already owns a compatible device. Eligibility matters in both cases. The announcement does not provide a complete device list, so owning an Echo or Fire TV alone should not be read as confirmation that every model qualifies.

The source is a continuing international‑rollout article, originally published in March and updated on October 28 for Japan’s expansion. The current event is the October 29 Japan program, rather than a newly announced global launch.

Free Early Access and later monthly pricing are different stages

Amazon says Alexa+ will be free for eligible customers during Early Access in Japan. After that program ends, its stated Japan price is ¥3,000 per month for customers without Prime; Prime members can use Alexa+ at no additional cost as part of their membership. Amazon sets out these Japan terms in its announcement.

The page does not give an end date for Japan’s Early Access period. A customer can therefore distinguish the current eligible‑access offer from the later standalone subscription price, but cannot infer how many free months the program will provide. Buying hardware and paying for the later service are also separate decisions; the launch article does not turn an eligible‑device purchase into a promise of permanent free access without Prime.

Restaurant, delivery and ticket partners are still planned

The Japan partner list names Restaurant Reservations powered by Tabelog, Uber Eats, Demae‑can and Ticket Pia. Amazon describes these integrations as planned to roll out over time: restaurant reservations, food delivery and ticket purchases are future additions in this announcement, not a checklist of services already activated for every invited customer.

That distinction matters if one of those tasks is the main reason to try Alexa+. An invitation to the assistant and availability of a particular partner integration are separate milestones. Amazon supplies no individual launch date for the named partners here, so a customer should check the specific integration’s availability before relying on it to complete a booking or order.

Keep Japan service eligibility separate from other Alexa launches

Amazon’s wider Alexa+ description includes conversational assistance, planning and smart‑home tasks. It also discusses multiple device and app surfaces, with availability depending on location. Those broader descriptions do not establish that every device, feature or service mentioned across Amazon’s international announcements is included in Japan’s Early Access offer.

The practical starting point is the Japan request route and the customer’s eligible device. Next comes the distinction between currently available functions and the local partners still being added. Finally, the customer can compare the free eligible‑access period with the later Prime benefit or standalone price. Those checks answer different questions; none can be replaced by assuming that an Alexa hardware or home‑mapping announcement in another market establishes Japan service entitlements. Source: Amazon
