• 57:30 - 58:00 evangelists and the greatest intercessors and spiritual Warriors are in this nation I want to tell you that God would not be God if he did not answer the prophecies he protects his word he watches over it and he said Revival is coming he said the Harvest is coming he is going to break the strong powers of darkness in this land there is going to be an Awakening can anybody else say Amen to
• 58:00 - 58:30 that amen well according to this word as we read Rome is Revival and Awakening and perhaps this word Revival might be unfamiliar to us you might not be aware what it actually means well Revival simply is the outpouring of the spirit's manifest presence and Power on his church Church on his people so that we are revived and ready for
• 58:30 - 59:00 awakening so then what is Awakening well it's the spirit's power overflowing from the people of God inside of the church overflowing outside into the culture into the cities communities and Nations and every time in history when there is a Revival that occurs there is always an acceleration and multiplication of Salvation that happens
• 59:00 - 59:30 at the same time now we as Christians shouldn't be surprised about this concept of mass salvations because it is the natural overflowing result of when the spirit is poured out we see this pattern occur in acts so let's trace for a moment this pattern of multiplication of Salvation in Acts acts 1 1-44 to 15 tells us right after the crucifixion there were about 120
• 59:30 - 60:00 Believers at this time and they were all gathered it was the apostles the mother of Jesus the brothers and some others who were all gathering at this time and it says they joined in the upper room constantly in prayer a little while later um after they had spent 10 days unceasing in this state of prayer it goes on to say in Acts 2:41 to4 42 that those who accepted this message were baptized and about
• 60:00 - 60:30 3,000 were added to their number that day 3,000 that day and it says they went on to devote themselves to the apostles teaching and to Fellowship to the breaking of bread and to prayer this happened after the spirit was poured out at Pentecost after 10 days of unceasing prayer on that 120 group it goes on a little bit further in Acts 4:4 as the
• 60:30 - 61:00 church was now empowered by the spirit to preach the gospel that many more heard this message and believed and it resulted in 5,000 men who knew the gospel now it literally says Men In this passage and what we believe it is is that those men are symbolic of the hous holds that they also represented so far more likely it was not just 5,000 but probably double if not more than that with their wives and children
• 61:00 - 61:30 included as well this particular pattern of multiplication of Salvation though was not merely found in the early church but it was repeated throughout history over and over again so let me tell you a little bit more of a modern example of a modern Revival that occurred in a little town off the aisle of Lewis St Louis in in Scotland a remote area and I tell you this to demonstrate how the mighty power of God does his work in the same way
• 61:30 - 62:00 across time as well this revival started with just two women aged 82 and 84 who just had this growing dissatisfaction that the Next Generation were leaving the church they were seeing people go out in droves and the church no longer being built and so they decided to dedicate themselves in prayer two nights a week from 1 p.m. till 4 a.m. anybody
• 62:00 - 62:30 else Keen for our prayer meetings to start at that time amen he good that's awesome we'll give you the keys and I'll join you so awesome well a little bit later these two ladies decided we can't just do this by ourselves let's let the parish leader know about what we've been praying for what about this problem what are we going to do about it and when he mentioned it to the Leaders The Parish leader had a very interesting response did not say okay well let's build a new
• 62:30 - 63:00 building to make our facilities more attractive for the Next Generation did not say let's make a new program or do some better advertising or bring a guest speaker in he simply said let's gather the seven elders and we will join you on our knees in prayer and as they did this the verse that grounded them was from Isaiah 44:3 it says for I will pour water on the Thirsty land and streams on the dry
• 63:00 - 63:30 ground and as they did this for a month and a half they were praying and praying and they just got totally overcome by the Holiness of who God is that they found themselves in a place in position of repentance and it wasn't just that everybody else needed to repent they realized we need to repent and as soon as repentance happened the power of God swept through the parish and they were completely changed a little while after that there was a meeting where the church gathered
• 63:30 - 64:00 together there was a visiting minister in town about 300 people who were a part of the church that time and it got to the end of the service and people were about to leave but one of the deacons then suddenly cried out and he said God you promised to pour water on the Thirsty land you can't fail us just then the door opened and someone said the Lord has done it and under the conviction of the Holy Spirit there were
• 64:00 - 64:30 600 people outside the church doors waiting to come in praise God where did these people come from well a lot of them were actually at the local dance where the power and the presence of God hit them at the dance the music got cut off and they all came to the church others were asleep in their bed in their pajamas who got woken up from their sleep and felt called to go to the
• 64:30 - 65:00 church now why did this happen it wasn't because of a program or a minister or because of any particular person or thing it was because the people of God cried out for God's presence and his power and God responded with Revival and so I hope we can see this pattern as it plays out that in these two situations it was always prayer that preceded the power of
• 65:00 - 65:30 God being poured out at Pentecost and in this Parish I tell you this story and these stories in scripture because these Give Me Faith for an even bigger Revival to happen here in Melbourne as well I look forward to the day and can see the day where there's thousands upon thousands that are waiting to come to our church here in Melbourne and so as we are even in this season right now I can just encourage you that
• 65:30 - 66:00 every week I'm kind of meeting people who have no face background but they kind of find their feet here at City Life and they're like I don't even know why I'm here maybe you are even one of those people in this room right now and can I encourage you it is not by accident in fact it was the spirit of God who called you here and you were part of the first fruits of the the budding Revival that God is wanting to do in our time and so for me it was an interesting
• 66:00 - 66:30 process back in 2019 where God started speaking to me for the very first time about these words Revival and Awakening I'd never even heard of these words before and I just kept noticing them in conversation so I did some investigation and I started to feel in my spirit this urgency about preparing God's church for Revival in our time but I don't want you just to take Emanuel canes or my word for it because
• 66:30 - 67:00 in actual fact long ago before either of us had this sense in fact many decades and even centuries before us people have also been sensing what God is wanting to do in Australia and so today I want to locate our vision at City Life Church of we are going to Rome in the Great words spoken over our nation as well that we would be
• 67:00 - 67:30 part of a global Revival that will go out to sweep the Nations and see Revival happen across this world so I want to start by reading this word from the 17th century by a man named Pedro Fernandez deiros he was a Portuguese sea captain he was a devout Catholic he was known as a man of prayer and had a prophetic utterance about him as well now this man actually set out to land in
• 67:30 - 68:00 Australia except he didn't land in Australia he landed in vanatu he got a little bit off course but as he landed in vanatu he proclaimed these words he said I summon Heaven and Earth this day as witness every place that I have seen or set the soul of my foot or henceforth will see or will set the soul of my foot and as far as the South Pole I from this day forward declare it to be the great
• 68:00 - 68:30 Southland of the holy spirit this is where that word comes from and so it was broader than Australia included the South Pacific Islands all the way in the South but we are so key to this prophetic word as well in our nation a little bit later on in the 20th century we then hear from William Seymour who was a man that was the leader of the movement of God happening in Los Angeles
• 68:30 - 69:00 that we sung about before isua Street there was a great Revival that broke out in this place and he was part of the modern Rebirth of the Pentecostal movement and he gave this prophetic word in 1908 he said this about a 100 years from now there will come an even greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit than you have seen here and it will begin in
• 69:00 - 69:30 Australia and it will go around that land and then into the islands of the sea there into Asia and from there into the whole world praise [Applause] God I don't know about you but I can see that we in City Life are so positioned to be sending people out into the Nations look at our our congregation we have over a hundred different nationalities represented in our church
• 69:30 - 70:00 we are positioned to be able to impact the Nations and we're also about a hundred years just over that prophetic word that William Seymour spoke a little bit further on in 1923 Smith Wigglesworth during a healing Revival and Crusade that was going on in Sydney he closed out the Crusade by saying these words he said Southwest of where I'm
• 70:00 - 70:30 standing in the latter years of the 20th century or the early years of the 21st century there will arise a move of God in this land I don't know if you guys are really familiar with geography but Southwest of Sydney is kind of like us it's in our region it's in our realm that God is is wanting to birth this revival from our region as well and so I
• 70:30 - 71:00 want to encourage us that it is so much bigger than anyone's single Ministry what God is doing it's so much bigger than anyone's single church but we get to be a part of God's greater bigger purpose of what he's building in our nation and across the world now these words will come to pass the question is not me whether God will or will not in fact if God speaks it he will fulfill it and there's never
• 71:00 - 71:30 a word that he has not completed but the question becomes only when he does it will we be ready will you and I be ready will our church be ready because I hear him saying ready or or not here I
• 71:30 - 72:00 come now although Revival may be imminent it is not inevitable that we will be ready to Steward to support or sustain the incoming move of the power and the presence of God it is actually God's kindness and his grace that gives us a window of opportunity in advance to prepare I want us to consider for a moment the very first Revival that ever happened here on Earth the birth of
• 72:00 - 72:30 Jesus and the birth of his church at Pentecost where his Spirit was poured out have you ever wondered though why was this moment in history the moment that God chose to come down and impact us at that time why did he do it then well interestingly if you study history in the 300 years in the lead up to jesus' birth there was a lot of political and infrastructural shift happening in the Known World in fact the
• 72:30 - 73:00 Romans were starting to conquer more of the cities outside of Rome and every city that they would kind of conquer and move out from they would send the military to then build the roads the highways the bridges and the tunnels so that they could build these roads straight back to Rome you might be familiar with the phrase all roads lead to Rome that's where this comes from and as
• 73:00 - 73:30 their Conquest expanded there was something that became known as the Roman empire under the first Roman Caesar Augustus Caesar who was the ruling political party at that time at jesus' Birth now this man was a man that decided I'm going to Institute something called the Pax Romana which is the Roman peace which brought peace between all of the regions around Rome including Europe um northern Africa and Asia
• 73:30 - 74:00 Minor and this enabled just an ability for peace and unity to Reign amongst those Nations but Additionally the Roman roads the infrastructure that was built also enabled just regular access and trade and travel to occur between these regions and this happened at the exact precise time that God needed to Embark the church out of Jerusalem to fulfill the Mandate the acts 18 mandate that we
• 74:00 - 74:30 would be Witnesses in Jerusalem Judea Samaria and to the ends of the Earth it was the Roman roads that paved a pathway for the gospel to spread rapidly with acceleration and multiplication and this is what we saw the multiplication of Salvation occur now in the same same way I sense for us that God is calling us to prepare the
• 74:30 - 75:00 infrastructure to build the roads of Revival so that when the spirit is poured out in Greater measure on us today that we would Steward the souls really well that come into salvation I personally feel this call quite urgently in my spirit and just recently we had our young adults um leaders meeting a few weeks ago but I had a very real and honest and raw conversation with our leaders at that
• 75:00 - 75:30 time because I said we hope for Revival we sing about Revival but we are not even close to being prepared for Revival let me give you a moment just to ponder on that what it means to be prepared for Revival and in a bit of an example of what I mean as well every year in young adults we expect a new cohort of year 12s to move up into our
• 75:30 - 76:00 young adults Network this is a planned influx of people and we spent months in advance preparing so that we've got leaders ready to be able to integrate them into our community and disciple them really well and yet we knew this year there was going to be at least 60 plus highly connected epic yous coming into young adults and so I spent o months preparing talking to different people to step up into leadership over 20 people but yet
• 76:00 - 76:30 the result of that was that only two had been able to say yes at that time now why do I bring this up for various reasons people could say yes or no to Leading but the reason why I highlight this is because we if we collectively are incapable of supporting a planned influx of people how could we possibly support an unexpected and unprecedented growth
• 76:30 - 77:00 which results from revival but here's the thing if we truly believe God's word that is spoken over our church then we can trust that these unprecedented numbers are not unexpected at all therefore our only response is is to prepare and build the infrastructure for Revival in alignment with our City Life
• 77:00 - 77:30 vision of multiplication I want to read to us a passage Isaiah 62:10 it says pass through pass through the gates prepare the way for the people build up build up the highway remove the stones prepare a banner for the Nations well now that we understand that the result of Revival and Awakening is a
• 77:30 - 78:00 multiplication of salvations we need to consider what are some of the inhibiting factors that prevent people from sustaining their salvation after the seed of the Gospel has been sown we who study scripture would understand and know that it is not merely those who initially believe in Jesus who will be saved but those who sustain their faith till the end who will be
• 78:00 - 78:30 saved so let's now read a passage which unpacks from scripture this very issue I want you to open your bibles if you have them and join me in Matthew 13 on the parable of the Seer starting in verse three Jesus told them many things in Parables saying a farmer went out to sew his seed and as he was scattering the seed some fell along the path and the birds came up and ate it quickly some fell on the rocky
• 78:30 - 79:00 places where it did not have much soil it sprang up quickly because the soil was shallow but when the sun came the plants were scorched and withered because they had no root other seed fell among the Thorns which grew up and choked the plants still other seed fell on good soil Where It produced a crop 160 and 30 times what was sown
• 79:00 - 79:30 Whoever has ears let them hear I want us to pause for a moment and recognize that Jesus describing four different types of ground now all four quadrants of ground actually receive the same seed of Salvation through the gospel but there was something that consistently stopped and inhibited the growth of the seeds with only one of them producing a multiplication of fruit I wonder then what is the kind of
• 79:30 - 80:00 problem that Jesus is proposing to us here let us continue to read and see what he says next in verse 18 He says listen to what the parable of the SE means when anyone hears the message of the kingdom and does not understand it the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart this is the seed sown along the path the seed falling on the rocky

• 80:30 - 81:00 unfruitful but the seed that falls on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it this is the one who produces a crop yielding to 100 to 60 or 30 times what was sown from this Parable we understand that the primary barrier to a sustainable salvation is a lack of discipleship so as we unpack this
• 81:00 - 81:30 passage a little bit more I want us to look at it with fresh eyes seeing the discipleship problem that is presented in this passage that destroys the seed inhibits the growth and prevents the fruit so we see that the first seed is swn on the path and the seed is vulnerable to being snatched well why because they hear the message and don't understand it well whose job is it to help people understand the
• 81:30 - 82:00 word it's not just mine it is ours collectively and so we must be seeing this as an opportunity for discipleship that we must equip every new believer how to understand scripture how to apply it to their lives how to interpret it so that they are continuing in their faith then we've got the seed that falls on the Rocks well it's shallow in Roots
• 82:00 - 82:30 When trouble or persecution comes because of the word um and they fall away quickly we must also equip people in the full truth of the Gospel sometimes people enter the kingdom with the wrong idea that now I've got God on my side my life is going to be full of prosperity and good times and And yet when we recognize that life with God it doesn't mean that we will not go through hard things or trials or pain in fact Jesus
• 82:30 - 83:00 tells us there will be trouble in this world but he says I give you my peace and my presence in the midst of that pain and that is what helps carry us through both our highest Heights and our lowest valleys this is the kind of discipleship we need to train people in and then you've got the seed that falls among the thorns and we can see that this seed actually grows up into a plant and maybe these people are representative of those who come to church or are part of a life group and
• 83:00 - 83:30 you know the plant starting to grow up but yet it says there's something that chokes out the word and it's the Warriors of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth well we must be teaching Believers what kingdom success looks like so that we are not easily alled by our flesh into the traps of this world which desire us to just build our own Empires build our own careers build our own money have a family we've
• 83:30 - 84:00 always wanted all of these aspects that are not actually measured of Kingdom success and finally we should be asking well what is the seed that produced a multiplying crop well when someone hears the word and understands it this means we need to teach Believers that the true measure of understanding the word of God is Not Mere head knowledge but its application of the word into
• 84:00 - 84:30 obedience we must apply the truth to our life and it's only when we learn to disciple people thoroughly into understanding and action we will see multiplication therefore today I want to suggest to us that building the roads to Rome means building the infrastructure to support multiple ation through discipleship although this Foundation of
• 84:30 - 85:00 discipleship is pivotal for every single one of us as Believers if our personal discipleship only ever starts with us and never overflows to others then we are simply participating in addition and not multiplication every single disciple is called to disciple others multiplication requires a mindset
• 85:00 - 85:30 shift then so that we do not see some people in the church as leaders and others as followers but rather every single person in the kingdom of God is a leader in his eyes and so I actually say this to the young adults all the time that there is coming a time and I believe it's not that far off that we're going to have to tap tap every single one of you on the shoulders to say tap you're in you're now a
• 85:30 - 86:00 leader and if we are to if we wait to prepare to when Revival is already upon us it's going to be too late we must prepare in advance think about the 300 gathered at the church that day in the parish and suddenly there was 600 that spontaneously gathered it would have required every single person in that Parish to disciple a minimum of two people each think about in Acts where
• 86:00 - 86:30 you've got people moving from 12 to over 5,000 plus people into the kingdom if it was only up to the apostles the so-called leaders to disciple people well discipleship would have been impossible that means that it is not merely up to the leaders of this church to prepare for multiplication but every single one of us our church will only be
• 86:30 - 87:00 as ready for Revival as the critical mass so I want to teach us a leadership principle in our final few moments together that each of us can apply to the various Realms of leadership that we operate in whether we lead in our family or in our friendship Circle in our ministry or even in our workplace remembering that leadership is not a role that we have but it is in our DNA it's in the seed of who the Holy Spirit has made us to be and the way we lead
• 87:00 - 87:30 will either prevent or prepare us for multiplication well what would it look like for us in our leadership to shift from producing fruit in our own life to identifying the seed of leadership that the Holy Spirit has put in another person and then us as leaders fostering and helping that that seed grow and watering that plant so that the fruit is
• 87:30 - 88:00 now grown and produced in their life for example in our context As Leaders perhaps as a life group leader in our church what if instead of us spending our own time and our own energy preparing for a life group study we actually use and invest our time into somebody else equipping them so that they are able to produce the fruit of the life group study you know this might feel a bit counterintuitive to us but it
• 88:00 - 88:30 is in fact the biblical design for leadership God gave each one of us spiritual gifts not so that we ourselves will be blessed by them but so that they would overflow to equip the Saints for the work of ministry Ephesians 4:11 teaches us he says so Christ himself gave the apostles the prophets evangelists pastors and teachers to equip his people for works
• 88:30 - 89:00 of service so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ we can observe from this passage that the true measure of effective leadership is not maintenance of ministry it's multiplication of ministry and we must be equipping the
• 89:00 - 89:30 Saints those in our life groups those in our realm of influence for the work of ministry we at our church at City Life take discipleship really seriously and we have a um City Life discipleship toolkit and one of those tools is the leadership square and so you might have heard of this before but this is a basic understanding of how we can shift the fruit being on our trees to the fruit
• 89:30 - 90:00 being on someone else's tree it starts off by me as the leader modeling I do this you watch and then we talk we talk about what you observed what you saw what you noticed the next time around I might do it but I've asked you to help and come alongside me in that process and we talk we have a bit of feedback and then it switches and now now they they are the ones that do it I'm the one that's helping and then we talk about it and
• 90:00 - 90:30 then finally I'm saying you do I watch and we are celebrating and cheering you on as you're going can you see this shift of how multiplication can have an impact of fruit in other people's lives I want to give you an example of how I applied this in the young adults Ministry last year we had a team of 12 um go to Southeast Asia on a missions trip overseas and I didn't see this as
• 90:30 - 91:00 another opportunity for me as um the pastor leading the team to spend my time doing more sermons or more workshops or leading the daily devotions or prayer but rather I saw this as an opportunity for multiplication so I spent all of my time in preparation preparing the team to do that teaching them how to share their testimony how to unpack the word of God and how to effectively communicate so that other people could be blessed by their Ministry and so by the time we
• 91:00 - 91:30 arrived overseas they were ready to go at a moment's notice I don't know if any of you have been on a missions trip overseas but one of the key factors of a missions trip is that anything can happen and any plans can change at any moment so if you are not ready in advance you are not prepared it's too late similar like Revival therefore we must take this seriously that leaders grow
• 91:30 - 92:00 leaders now after coming back from this trip I personally wasn't just satisfied with the addition of leaders of 12 people but there was so much fruit on that trip that I wanted them to then implant the seeds of the heart and the missions into other people in our ministry and so I took the model of Jesus who he after equips his disciples he sends them out 2 by two into the world to continue the ministry and so I sent the team out two by two to all of
• 92:00 - 92:30 the young adults life groups to give a taste of the trip and give the heart of the seed of missions for others so that they might have more fruit in that area in the future this is how multiplication can have an exponential effect this is what we're about imagine just imagine for a moment if we as City Life directed all of our focus and our energy to fulfill the
• 92:30 - 93:00 Mandate of our vision of multiplication this year what if we all built our roads leading to [Music] Rome I really believe as each one of us takes discipleship seriously becoming a disciple who disciples others we will become a church who is ready in prepared for God's power and his presence to move in Mighty ways like we've never seen before so I want to ask each one of us
• 93:00 - 93:30 today how are you going to personally build the roads of Revival to prepare for multiplication reality is this might mean we have our own steps of discipleship that we need to take in order to be one day prepared and ready for leadership we are lifelong disciples no matter what stage of our faith but I want to encourage us do not wait for someone to tap you on the shoulder to
• 93:30 - 94:00 say do you want to be a leader to be proactive in your discipleship to go get ready yourself can I even encourage you why don't you take this another step even further and approach your life group leader or your network pastor and say how do I be ready for leadership in the future what do I need to do to be Revival ready we have got so many courses coming up in the month of March that I commend us to be a part of we've got life tracks 1 to

• 94:30 - 95:00 be running one on taking ground for the kingdom of God on Authority and that's all about prayer and how do we understand our kingdom Authority so that we can be equipped in the spiritual realm to be able to see our prayers be effective here on Earth and additionally the following week we've also got one on Prayer Ministry this is going to be led by Mike gretchko and Linda Lee and this is an incredible thing for every single one of our prayer teams if you're part of our
