• 39:00 - 39:30 God it's about his kingdom all right in Acts chapter 1 the Acts was the book of Acts was written by Luke Luke by the way was not a preacher he was not even one of the twelve disciples I remember going to see a passion play one time and it listed who was playing each part and enlisted the twelve disciples enlisted Luke okay Luke was not a disciple by the way he was not one of the twelve disciples he was saved later on he did travel with Paul but Luke was a physician and Luke wrote two books of
• 39:30 - 40:00 the Bible obviously he wrote the Book of Luke and he wrote Acts now because he was a physician I don't know how we ever got him translated because you can't read a physicians handwriting but somehow we got these books so I'm glad for that but the reason I referred to that you wrote the book of look Luke is because I want you to notice the book of Acts was actually a letter written to a companion of his who many believed was also a physician named Theophilus and so that's where the book begins and also look at Acts chapter one verse one
• 40:00 - 40:30 he says the former account I made now he's referring to the Book of Luke that we know as the Book of Luke the former account I made the previous letter I wrote oh Theophilus of all that Jesus began both to do and teach that's during the three and a half years Jesus was on the earth in his ministry until the day in which he was taken up after he through the Holy Spirit had given Commandments to the apostles whom he had chosen again Luke was not one of those
• 40:30 - 41:00 to whom he also presented himself alive after his suffering by many infallible proofs having been seen being seeing it by them watch this being seen by these Twelve Apostles and there were about five hundred actually it saw him during this time during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God now I just want you to notice what did Jesus teach the disciples about in the forty days after his resurrection says
• 41:00 - 41:30 very clearly things pertaining to the kingdom okay so he's teaching them about the kingdom forty days and if you really think about it for three-and-a-half years he taught about the kingdom the word kingdom appears in the Gospels Matthew Mark Luke and John a hundred and twenty nine times Jesus said over and over again the kingdom of heaven is like the kingdom of heaven is like the kingdom of heaven is like he's always talking about the kingdom but then after his resurrection it tells us
• 41:30 - 42:00 specifically for 40 days he taught them about the kingdom 40 days I think about that amount of time with the resurrected Christ have you ever gone to a conference all of us have gone to conferences at some port in another for our work or whatever and it's how long is it last couple of days three days maybe a week you know if it lasts two weeks we normally say it's some sort of a school or continuing education but conference is normally only a few days
• 42:00 - 42:30 I've been to some conferences you know I'm kind of a bottom-line person but I've been actually the many conferences that in my opinion they cram one day's worth of material in the three days and I think to myself okay I got it let me go home now you know you ever felt that way when your job sends you somewhere okay so that's that but think about this 40 days can you imagine spending 40 days
• 42:30 - 43:00 with the resurrected Christ what I want to tell you about this though is that up until this time the disciples still didn't get that it was all about the kingdom they still didn't get it let me show you how I know that verse 6 acts 1 verse 6 therefore when they come together they asked him saying Lord will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel now that seems like a normal question but you got to remember who
• 43:00 - 43:30 these guys were and what they wanted they wanted an earthly Kingdom they wanted to rule they were always having arguments about who was going to be the greatest and who was gonna sit next to Jesus constantly and so after he resurrects he spends 40 days he's talking about the kingdom and they said Lord at 40 days then they said Lord is it now that we get to rule is it now is it finally now that we get to be the boss that we get to tell someone else to
• 43:30 - 44:00 do you know it they weren't hearing anything he said I'm telling you it's like I had a friend of mine and he heard the he heard a message young godly discipline and so you know and so he thought that's what I'm gonna do next time I have to spank the kids and so the kids got in trouble you got a boy and a girl they both got into trouble and so he set him down and for five minutes he told him about the Bible and about about why we discipline our children and he gave him a little five-minute lesson then he said now do you kids have any question little boy raised hand said yep do her first he didn't they didn't hear
• 44:00 - 44:30 a word that he said that's kind of way it was what Jesus he said the kingdom the kingdom will tell you right the kingdom the kingdom the kingdom okay that went it's now now do we get to be Boss resistant is a stop they just did not get it I know they didn't get it this is a truth that we have to get this is a truth that we have to get imma taking a moment when the disciples got it and how they got it fun but this is a

• 48:00 - 48:30 he was doing a funeral for a man in his church who had passed away and he did the memorial and then when they went to the graveside you're supposed to say a few words well right before he was going to speak all of a sudden the widow got up she walked up to him she whispered is there she said I'm so sorry to tell you this that's late notice but I just remembered she said right before he went to be with the Lord he asked if you would sing his favorite hymn at the graveside and the pastor he didn't really Ravel him because he led worship before and he had a good voice and he
• 48:30 - 49:00 knew a lot of hymns and so he sent us he'll probably said what was his favorite hymn and she said jingle bells now for those of you who are new in the faith jingle bells' is not him but she wouldn't sit right back down and he thought what am I gonna do you know she just asked him it's the man's dying request what'd I do so he shared a few scriptures and he said you know we were going to before we
• 49:00 - 49:30 dismiss we're going to see rather so and so's favored him jingle bells then he started dashing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh he said I got to the course I said everybody Oh jingle bells jingle bells soon as he finished the widow came up to she said I'm so sorry it wasn't jingle bells it was ringing those golden
• 49:30 - 50:00 bells well what do you do it's not about you it's about others alright okay so number one it's about just kingdom number two it's through his power it's through his power okay now let me tell you this is why I know the disciples didn't get it because they asked that question verse six but I'll tell you when they did get it they
• 50:00 - 50:30 got it in Acts chapter two and this is what Jesus refers to look at look at acts one still verses seven and eight this is his response he said it's not for you to know the times or the seasons which the father has put in his own authority but you shall receive power there it is it's it's through his power you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth you're going to receive power now here's what happened when the disciples
• 50:30 - 51:00 received this power they immediately changed they became men of boldness that they had been really you want to tell the truth they had been scaredy-cats up to this day they were afraid of everything they were constantly in for a fear of the Jews even after the resurrection they were hiding behind locked doors and we talked about Peter denying him they all denied him and they all forsook him every one of them forsook Jesus let me read you this
• 51:00 - 51:30 scripture and then maybe show you something you've never seen before it has a little humorous twist to it mark chapter 14 verses 53 52 it says then they all forsook him all of them and fled and then watch verse 51 carefully you have to kind of understand biblical language to understand what this could be implying it says now a certain young man followed him having a linen cloth thrown around his naked body and the young man laid hold of him and he left the linen cloth and fled from
• 51:30 - 52:00 them naked first new testament streaker right they right there okay but it says a certain young man this happened to a certain young man now when you read the Bible when John wrote the book of John he never names himself in the book he says another disciple he'll say you know Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb and he's talking about himself and you know he's telling himself because he throws this in and the other disciple got there first
• 52:00 - 52:30 you know I won the race but he doesn't refer to himself by name and so personally in my opinion mark wrote this I think marked was the young man I really do I think he's riding this and he's saying they all forsook him and fled and he's and then the Holy Spirit said and tell him what you did and he thought about how John wrote and then he wrote now a certain young man that's just my personal opinion but
• 52:30 - 53:00 these disciples were changed when the Holy Spirit came their focus was changed they begin to focus on the kingdom and his power they even caught the disciples after the Holy Spirit came upon them and they beat them and they said you stop preaching in Jesus name and they said we're gonna obey God rather than men everything changed and let me show you what watch this verse x4 31 and when they had prayed that's very important to understand when they had prayed because
• 53:00 - 53:30 we're told that prayer the place where they were assembled together was shaken they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and they spoke the Word of God with boldness now this is act 4 but in acts 2 they were baptized with the Holy Spirit please hear me the baptism in the Holy Spirit is a one-time event in your life but being filled with the Holy Spirit is a continual event we are we are continually filled with the Holy Spirit and as you all know how are filled with the Holy Spirit it says it right there in verse 31 and when they had prayed when we pray were filled with
• 53:30 - 54:00 the power of the Holy Spirit it's very very important to pray and to spend time in prayer because you're filled with boldness when the Holy Spirit comes and with power sometimes they don't come at the same time in other words sometimes you get the power but you don't have the wisdom maybe to be able to use that power correctly you just have this boldness I was filled the spirit of 1983 not long after that I went overseas to speak for my first time in the Philippines and I'd heard about the
• 54:00 - 54:30 power of the Spirit and the miracles you know and things like that and I was really beginning to get excited about these things and we had this where we were speaking at a pastors conference there were hundreds of pastors there and there was just a attend like an outdoor tin roof and they were and no snow falls on any side of it and there had been a prophecy that the country had been in a drought and there'd been prophecy about rain and it was pouring rain when I got
• 54:30 - 55:00 up to speak and but I didn't know about the prophecy but I had boldness and I was speaking and they were all huddled under this 10 roof but they couldn't hear me because it was so loud and I had this new boldness just didn't have a lot of wisdom so I just all of a sudden said hey let's pray and ask God to stop the rain now it's about 23 24 years old and I said Lord in Jesus name stop the rain
• 55:00 - 55:30 it rained harder I said again Lord in Jesus name stop the rain it thundered and rained harder and when you speak you got to be quick on your feet you know and so I just said well let's just thank God for the rain say I had some boldness but I didn't quite understand the power of wind to try to use it and when you pray not in accordance with God's will
• 55:30 - 56:00 something will happen I will tell you this though two days later I laid my hands on a lady who was blind and she was healed because I was praying then in accordance with God's will at that time at that moment [Music] deciding where you want to invest your life's work is one of the most critical

• 62:00 - 62:30 children immediately when she got married and then she had three miscarriages and the Lord spoke something to me and to pray for her and so I got up when I finished my haircut and I walked over and she was actually getting up the same time and I said ma'am I know you don't know me I'm a pastor here in the area but I just feel like the Lord spoke something to me and I'm supposed to pray for you but I'm supposed to tell you something and I just looked her right in the eyes and I said God is going to give you a child
